🥎 U8 Girls Softball – Coaches Pitch (PLW League)

Our U8 Girls Softball team is the perfect introduction to competitive softball in a fun, encouraging, and development-focused environment!

This is a Coaches Pitch league, designed to help players gain confidence at the plate while continuing to develop proper hitting mechanics. Coaches will pitch to their own players during games, creating a supportive and instructional game environment.

Our focus at the U8 level is:

Skill development and fundamentals
Learning the rules of the game
Teamwork and sportsmanship
Building confidence and love for softball

This level is ideal for players who are ready to learn the game in a structured setting while still keeping the experience fun and positive.

This age group will not have any tournaments at this time.

Ages

What aged players are appropriate for this program?

Example: Appropriate players at least 9 years old who have completed at least one year of Learn-to-Play.

When

Players will begin practicing in early May, with practices held twice per week (weather dependent) to help build fundamental skills such as throwing, catching, fielding, base running, and hitting. Once games begin, the team will transition to one practice per week and will play two games per week against other teams in the PLW League.

Where

Practices and home games are typically held at the local DeForest fields. Away games are usually played in Poynette, Lodi, Dane and Sauk.

*This can change yearly depending on which communities sign up.

Practices

Practices are typically held twice per week (weather & coach dependent). Once games begin, the team will transition to 0-1 practice per week, dependent on field time.

Games

Teams will play 2 games per week.

*This is subject to change based on field and league availability.

Jerseys

All players will be equipped with a jersey, one pair of pants, one pair of socks, and a belt.

Players are required to provide their own facemask and helmet with a face guard.
